"My Mum was admitted through A&E ..."

About: North Devon District Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My Mum was admitted through A&E 2 weeks ago. I live in Sheffield so travelled down to see her I also work in the NHS and see first hand what large hospitals can be like. I was surprised and pleased the the standard of care my mother received. My mother was on King George IV ward, the staff were wonderful very attentive and were happy to explain to me what had been happening as I was not there initially when she was admitted. The ward was very clean and I witnessed the bed cleaners cleaning 2 beds when people had been discharged. They cleaned every inch of the bed and the TV Monitor above the bed they were very thorough. I cannot recommend this hospital enough and am very thankful to the staff on the ward for easing my mothers pain and for the care and consideration they showed her.

What could be improved

The only thing I will say is that the car park is very expensive. Also the staff on the ward are very overworked.

Anything else?

It has been a long time since I visited the hospital and the improvements in the entrance are lovely. It is clean and modern and the coffee shop was also very good.
