My mum was recently admitted to ward 14 ( 15th June 2016) as an emergency she was very ill and confused, staff were instantly reassuring and supportive, I was given a cup of tea by the catering staff who could clearly see I was upset and the nursing staff were busy with mum, that cup of tea was such a comfort. Mum deteriorated that day and the day after, this was a very upsetting/ stressful time for us all, every member of the team on ward 14 were fantastic , consultant, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, catering staff and domestic staff, we were all treated with dignity and respect with all of mums care explained to us, we asked question after question nothing was a problem , even the difficult conversation regarding DNR was made as comfortable as it could be. Mum did pull through and spent a week on ward 14 , the care/ support remained outstanding , mum was discharged home and sadly passed away 14th July 2016 , we cannot thank ward 14 enough they made a very difficult time much easier , a true team of angels .
