After having a frightening awakening with chest pains and breathlessness, I used the 111 line to talk to someone, as I live alone. A decision was taken to send an ambulance which arrived in minutes. Some feat as I live in a village some distance from the hospital. The paramedics were so kind and professional and I was reassured to see them at my door. I was taken to The A and E department and handed over to the staff there. I was seen immediately and underwent a number of tests and a physical examination. At every point I was treated with, courtesy, sensitivity and kindness, although it was the end of the night shift. I was even offered a cup of tea by the staff nurse, who admitted me. Fortunately it turned out well and I was sent home with a self-help leaflet and told to ring the number provided immediately, should I become ill again. It is the first time in 66 years that I have used any of the above but I am full of praise for everyone who helped me, when I was so scared. The NHS was brilliant for me. Credit where it is due, and huge thanks to everyone who cared for me.
