"Huge thank you to all staff on Birchington Ward"

I was admitted to Birchington Ward at the beginning of July and ended up remaining there for 15 nights due to the complex nature of the procedure amongst other things. My experience on the ward was an extremely positive one, all staff (including domestic staff and visiting physios and dieticians) were friendly, helpful, caring and compassionate and I felt totally involved in decisions about my care at all stages. Although they are all very busy it never felt like they didn't have the time to stop and explain things to you or talk about anything that was causing anxiety; this feeling of having time also extended to the surgeons/consultants and teams of doctors who also took great care to explain things, listen to concerns and answer questions. I cannot praise the team of highly dedicated nurses and HCAs that work on this Ward enough. They are quite simply amazing. Their values and ethics also permeated through the teams of student nurses from Canterbury Chris Church University and Manchester University who were very well supervised and mentored by the nurses on duty.
I am hugely grateful to all who work as part of the Birchington Ward team for their care during my prolonged stay and the subsequent follow up visits for dressing changes and wound checks and recommend them without reservation to anyone requiring their services. Thank you, you're all superstars!
