"Burnley birth centre"

About: Burnley General Hospital

Birth to a beautiful baby girl April 2016. Birth centre was very clean very nice had my first daughter there was a great experience but this time around the midwife was so awful made me feel so uncomfortable when i went in was in so much pain i asked for gas and air as i was waiting for 30 mins just for them to set up the midwife seemed as tho the midwife was really unhappy that i came in deliberately wasting time and the midwife said in such rude manner that i couldnt have gas and air until they checked me and the midwife was taking ages then the machine wasnt working quickly gave me gas and air when they knew i was 8 cm the midwife shouted at me during labour just because ii gripped their hand for comfort and i know i dint squeeze it hard or anything and the midwife said you better not pinch me lol and shouted at the student midwife because they held my hand and told them to let go and said I had to wait for my husband to get back so I can hold his hand it upset me during the time the student midwife was so amazing so helpful they seemed so much experienced the the qualified midwife.i remember during my 1st labour in 2013 same place the midwife was amazing even tho i was there for 18 hours i couldnt have done it without them they held my hand rubbed ma back they were just great thank god i was in labour for 1 and half hours this time coz i defo wouldnt have been able to cope that long with the midwife. I had a episiotomy and stayed 3nights the aftercare was brill the rest of the staff were so nice.

Good morning

Many thanks for your comments regarding the Birth Centre at Burnley General Hospital and thank you for taking the time to do so.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl in April.

I am really pleased you found the birth centre to be clean and that your postnatal care was good.

How-ever, I am very sorry that your experience in labour was not so good.

In order for me to investigate, I would need some further details and I would appreciate if you could contact me (Helen Ritchie) on 01254 734471 or email me on helen.ritchie@elht.nhs.uk

If you prefer you can discuss further any concerns you may have about our services with our East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk who can advise you of your options in raising these concerns further.

If you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk
