"Emergency treatment"

About: Manchester Royal Eye Hospital

Friday 29/7/2016 at 6pm well received at reception and after initial waiting period (2.30 hours) was diagnosed and treated with medications very quickly.

The E and F areas are small and I found them claustrophobic ,very warm, bathroom facilities inadequate. The staff are extremely great and hard-working team thank you guys.

Ms H Bateman, Matron at MREH was very sorry to receive your comments following your attendance at the Emergency Eye Department (EED) via the NHS Choices / Patient Opinion website. The Division has recognised that the area can, at busy periods, exceed capacity and has investigated varying ways to improve the patient environment. At this present time there is no room to expand the waiting area. The introduction of the pagers to the department in 2015 has proved a great success and patients are able to leave the department and return when paged. Ms Bateman would like to offer her apologies if this service was not offered to you. There are also further bathroom facilities opposite the department on the main corridor.

Ms Bateman has passed your thanks onto the staff that were on duty on 29th July 2016.

It is very difficult to respond to your individual concerns without being able to investigate in detail. To do this we would need more information. If you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk they will be happy to discuss this with you and liaise with the department.
