"My recomendation would be to train ward staff properly"

About: Millbrook Mental Health Unit

(as the patient),

I was admitted to millbrook mental health unit on the lucy wade unit following a mental breakdown and double suicide attempt, I stayed there for approx 2 months.

To me, it became apparant within just a few days that the staff on the ward had little or no training in mental health and seemed to spend most of their time moaning about pay and overtime issues.  In my opinion, they spent almost no time attending patiants needs. I was prescribed medication to help relax me but I felt that the staff ignored this and withheld medication resulting in me becoming more anxious.

my recomendation would be to train ward staff properly espessially when it comes to patiant care and dealing with medication.

Dear Kez,

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise on the bahalf of Lucy wade that your stay on the ward was a negative experience. I will be raising this with the staff team in an attempt for this not to happen again and so that service user experience is not a negative one. Please rest assured that I am taking this seriously as I recognise that when a patient is admitted to hospital it can be scary and quite a surreal time and the nursing team should be aiming to achieve good quality patient care at all times.

If you would like to discuss this further then please contact me on 01159691300 x14959.

Steve
