Almost a year ago, my baby boy was referred to your paediatrics audiology after his newborn screening.
After two long assessments, my son was diagnosed as severe to profoundly deaf.
It came as a huge shock and back then I couldn't even think straight and just thought the worst for my newborn son.
The audiology team were fantastic, very informative without going into too much detail and didn't speak in jargon.
My son was just under six weeks old when he was fitted with his Phonak nathos hearing aids we chose, and it was an overwhelming experience to say the least but I remember it like yesterday with Jean and Kate.
I got to know the team very well after that, attending every two weeks for new moulds and every time I came - they were always very accommodating and fitting me in during their lunch, their admin time and always provided excellent support.
As the months passed, and hearing aid reviews went by it was very clear to me how each team member specifically Sarah, Kate, Esther, Jean and Michelle loved helping children. They'd help me out last minute when my son had temporarily damaged his hearing aids, they said Come in straight away and we'll fix it for you. No issues, no red tape - just excellent patient care and service.
I've recently been asked by the NDCS to petition my MP for better services, but I can honestly say I don't know what else I could possibly wanted! The team have provided excellent care, superb jargon free communication and advice, on the spot hearing aid reviews at the drop of a hat and have allowed my son to have the very best service and of course hearing aids available.
This first year of my son's life has been overwhelming with appointments, but the team at Heartlands have been amazing. Couldn't have asked for better.
Thank you. An amazing service from the NHS!
