"Southwell Hobbies group - A Big Success"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The Hobbies group currently runs one morning a week for the Mental Health patients in Southwell day centre. The patients all have individual projects that they are completing, these can be paint by numbers, air fix model building, drawing, personal art and scraper foil.

The patients have fed back the following: -

"The group is positive and helps with your mental state"

" I really enjoy the hobbies group as it's a nice environment, and the staff are nice and supportive"

We have had requests to open a similar group for the Learning Disability patients, and this will be reviewed on the next programme.

Thanks to everyone for providing the positive feedback about the hobbies group, the timetable in Southwell is developed in collaboration with patients and feedback is really important in underlining that this approach works.

Currently there is a review of activities available to patients across the hospital and we hope to be able to continue to focus on providing support with activities that is highly valued, and at the next program review we will consider how we progress with the hobbies group.

Kind regards

Helen
