"Colonoscopy at QEQM endoscopy unit"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

I was called for a colonoscopy after a positive result to the tests you get sent in the post. I was worried and anxious. I had an initial appointment at which things were explained to me very well by a specialist nurse, who was really on top of her specialism and also gave me further advice over the phone when I needed it. When I attended for the colonoscopy everything went very smoothly, I was treated with respect, involved in all decisions, and kept fully informed of everything going on. While I had a very rough time during the colonoscopy itself this was in no way the fault of the team; on the contrary they could not have done more to reassure me, relieve my discomfort and take care of me afterwards. I got the impression that this was a skilled and caring team who are able to put themselves in the position of the patient and anticipate what they will need. Top marks all round, I would recommend anyone needing this procedure to go to the QEQM.

Firstly - thank you for undertaking the test at home which is not the most pleasant - I know!

I am sorry that the test seems to have highlighted something, but glad to learn that the entire team explained what was necessary and that the colonoscopy went very smoothly.

I am sorry to learn that you had such an uncomfortable time, but it is very reassuring that everyone in the team was skilled and caring.

I do hope that all is well.
