"Disgusting"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

I was very disappointed with the care I received from start to finish at this a&e department. Every single member that was involved with me (I would say introduced but truth is none of the nurses or doctors did introduce themselves to me!) need to have training and education on the importance of the 6c's they should be upholding at all times when working. None of the 6c's were demonstrated to me, care was appalling, I got diagnosed with completely the wrong thing and was left waiting in the corridor for 7+ hours with no one to check up on me even though I was having fast flowing fluids running through me. It also angers me you didn't perform the correct tests on me, didn't do any vital signs or urinalysis which may have lead you towards a more correct diagnosis! Having worked in NHS I understand how busy a department can be but that doesn't mean care, compassion and competence goes a miss.

I am sorry that you were left less than satisfied with your experience within our A&E department. You will no doubt be aware that in recent months we have made significant improvements in the management of patients and performance. We have been able to benefit from increased numbers of medical staff, have increased the numbers of nurses on each shift, and have taken steps to ensure patients are seen quickly and safely. Our department is a very different place from the department you visited on October. I hope that if you require our help in the future your experience will be very different. We aim to learn from all our patients so thank you for taking the time to comment. I am Neil Hardy-Lofaro and I am the Managing Director responsible for A&E. I can be contacted via e.mail on neil.hardy-lofaro@nhs.net
