I was originally admitted as a day patient in gynaecology, for a laparoscopy. I was discharged that evening; however, after a few hours it became clear that I was very unwell and my GP referred me back to Arrowe Park. After numerous tests it transpired that my bowel had been perforated and I needed an emergency laparotomy. I cannot thank the staff of Ward 17 enough for the the care they gave over the following 3 weeks. Whether seasoned nurses, students, clinical or domestic assistants, they endeavoured to ensure I was as comfortable as possible and helped to ease the pressure on my family in times of stress. I.can (and will, privately) name individuals, but in general the support I received was excellent, despite the undue pressure placed on our NHS services as a result of irresponsible cuts in funding. Thank you, Ward 17, for preserving my dignity in a very challenging situation.
