"A&E Care under pressure."

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

0400 hrs 28-7-16, I received a phone call from the Care Home saying that my 94 year old Mother ( Muriel ) had fallen and injured her head and was being taken to CRH A&E by ambulance.

I attended just after 0430 and found that she has been assessed and on the way to cubicles .

She was visited on a regular basis and assessed for all sign and symptoms relating to her injuries.

We were offered hot drinks and my mother was even given breakfast at the appropriate time . Her care was without fault , and we were kept informed of progress throughout by all members of Staff, even though they were also dealing with a "Highly Aggressive, Loud and Demanding " patient in a nearby cubicle . Please thank all members of the Team for another faultless experience at your Hospital.

Regards

John.

Dear John

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experiences in our Emergency Department. The team will be delighted to read them.

It has been unusually busy over the past few weeks and the staff have seen increasing demand.

The care you describe for your Muriel, your mother, is just the standard they always aim for no matter how busy or under pressure they are.

They are a fantastic team and I will make sure I share your thoughts.

I hope your Mother is recovering well after her fall.

Kindest regards Sarah Turner-Saint, head of communications
