I had to attend the Cardio Catheter Suite today for a pacemaker implant. Although everything had been explained at the pre-op meeting I still felt nervous and full of trepidation. I was greeted by friendly nursing staff who went overboard in allaying any fears I held and made me relaxed to be there. They were all professional, very caring and extremely knowledgeable about forthcoming day's events. The Surgeon took time to explain what would happen during the procedure and answered all of my questions. All the staff in the theatre explained to me what they were doing and in such an easy-going way, that I felt no nervousness whilst laying there. During the procedure the surgeon kept me informed about each stage of the procedure, with such a relaxed manner in filled me with confidence. Afterwards whilst waiting to recover from the procedure and be discharged the nurses 'were very attendant to me, constantly checking that I was alright and offering food and beverages repeatedly. I seemed as if they enjoyed caring for me.r. Overall it was an excellent experience and I would not hesitate to recommend this dept.
