I was admitted to Torbay A&E late on a Sunday night having been collected by the most considerate and calm ambulance crew.
I underwent emergency surgery (laparotomy) and spent time in ICU.
I was then transferred to Allerton Ward. I came into hospital in great pain and was very frightened.
I received calm and courteous treatment from both the nursing and surgical team prior to surgery and afterwards, although I felt incredibly vulnerable, I knew that I was receiving the best possible care both in ICU and on the ward. I appreciated just how busy the nursing staff were but even in the darkest part of the night they found time to be reassuring. The only negative thing I would say is that the food is unappetising and doesn't do a lot to encourage one to eat and gain strength - but I appreciate that cost and sheer number of patients to feed must be an issue for the NHS Trust.
Thank you for looking after me so well
