(as a relative),

My 84 year old mother was due to have her knee replaced. I took the day off work to take her, she had stopped her blood thinning meds etc and was all ready to go when they rang her this morning to say it's been cancelled due to the theatre being out of use. They could not give her any idea as to when her operation will now take place. She's in a great deal of pain and is extremely upset. Surely a new date could have been given? This was at Royal Hampshire county hospital in Winchester.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our orthopaedic service. I am sorry that we had to cancel your mother's operation, which must have been very distressing for her.

I have shared your comments with the clinical leaders and we are doing all we can to get your mother a new date for her operation as soon as possible.
