I visited the A&E department late on Saturday night at my girlfriend's behest following a motorcycle collision earlier that evening which had left me badly battered, but principally as a puncture wound was bleeding continuously. I was treated extremely well - even if the doctor who examined me gave me a good telling off for not having visited earlier! The staff were all extremely professional and caring, and I admired their patience with the usual mass of drunken Saturday nighters. One was walking around drunkenly begging for a cigarette, whining that "All I want is a ciggy!", another little hard man who'd had his jaw broken in a fight whingeing and refusing to have a canula inserted because it "Looks like straw, it's going to kill me, man!" I was sent to a ward and released the following evening. The ward staff were angels, calmly cleaning up after an old man with dementia had thrown a bed pan full of urine across the ward without complaint. Every member of staff I encountered - from reception through triage nurses, porters, ward nurses/assistants and doctors - was exemplary. I have the highest regard for those working in the NHS and those at Chesterfield Royal are among the very best. Thank you for looking after me!
"Outstanding service!"
