"Totally failed by Fertility clinic."

About: Dorset County Hospital

Where do I start? Lost our referral from GP. I had to get my GP to re send another and even then managed to lose vital paperwork.I ended up having to ask my GP to print of all of our investigations. Shambles. Our initial appointment was given away to another couple.Luckily the specialist there took pity on us and arranged an appointment for after hours which was very kind. This is when we believed it would improve.Alas we were badly wrong!Lack of commniuication between departments seemed apparent. When we finally saw our consultant it became even worse. There long delays (which I understand can't be helped sometimes) and we were rushed by them. The consultant did not give us any good advice, nor did they recommend any further tests(we would have been more than happy to pay for). the consultant was also very rude about my husbands weight which was caused by his depression over our infertility. I know to consultants you're just another number they want off their books, but you a person with rights to be treated with dignity and respect which this consultant I have to say lacked. When you are in this vulnerable and daunting situation you need others to show kindness and empathy. The consultant gave us 5 minutes of their time before throwing us out of their office in an aggressive manner. Fortunately I am lucky that my general gynae recommended a re referral to an NHS Fertility clinic (where they work) and the service I have received there has be wonderful, efficient, organised, and feel treated with respect and empathy, has restored my faith in the NHS.

It is a huge shame as this hospital has great potential.Sadly the staff let it down. ...
