"Triage process, no diagnostics"

I went into Trelisk hospital a&e department during a family holiday to Cornwall in July 2016. After having an ambulance out a few days earlier with very severe abdominal pain and persistent vomiting for a week, unable to keep food down, we were advised to go straight into Trelisk should the symptoms return/continue by the excellent paramedic team and local GP. I was seen by a doctor in triage, who did their utmost to make me feel like i was wasting their time and did nothing other than a quick examination of my abdomen before sending me home with painkillers. I explained that i thought the pain could be gallstones and that the symptoms i was experiencing felt very close to what I'd read on the nhs website describing gallstones and the doctor brushed this aside and was doubtful about it, saying "it's past 5pm I don't know what you expect us to do". A few days later upon returning home from Cornwall, after continued symptoms, I was admitted via a&e in Kingston hospital who did an outstanding job. They did a blood test within an hour, which confirmed that I had gallstones which had progressed to pancreatitis and an infected gallbladder and I was admitted for 5 days for treatment, as well as arranging surgery for removal of my gallbladder a week later. Had I relied on the doctor's advice at Trelisk I could have seriously endangered my health. If i were to go back in time i would have been more persistent and firmer in triage at Trelisk: the experience just made me feel like they were trying to get rid of me.
