"A&E care at Aberdeen"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as the patient),

I very recently broke my wrist on a Sunday - the day it is claimed that there is a skeleton staff and services by certain politicians! I was welcomed efficiently by the receptionist who very wisely advised me to remove my wedding ring. I was seen 30 minutes later by a very friendly and sympathetic doctor. Potential options were explained to me and I was X-rayed straight away by a very gentle radiographer. I then had my wrist realigned under a local anaesthetic and put into a cast. All the staff were very courteous and allowed my family to stay with me through every procedure. Everything was explained and I was shown my pre and post X-rays. I was out of the department in less than 3 hours. I cannot fault any aspect - what could have been better? ? Nothing. (Well maybe just not breaking my wrist in the first place! ! )

Dear Wristpatient

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. It was good to hear how well things went for you. As you say, it would have been better if you hadn’t broken your wrist – and I am sure lots of everyday tasks are much harder as a result. However, words such as “kind”, “friendly” and “sympathetic” sum up how our staff try to treat everybody – whatever day of the week it is!

I hope you make a good recovery – and thank you again for taking the time to provide such positive feedback. We will make sure it is passed to the department and shared with staff.

Kind regards

Laura Gray
