My husband suffered severe pressure sores after leaving and during his stay in hospital. A special mattress was provided which helped immensely so much so that the mattress was replaced to a spongy one. Unfortunately, the pressure sores came back. I think prevention in this case is better than cure, he had been almost constantly on bed rest for months with not much progress.
