I had to go for an ultrasound scan because I found a strange lump in my groin area at the very top of my right leg. Given my history of odd lumps and whatnot, my GP was concerned but was sure it was a hernia. Thus, an ultrasound was scheduled.
I arrived early and was seen early - I think I'd waited less than 5 minutes. The lady operating the ultrasound machine was very professional and approachable, as was her assistant. We chatted about the situation and then she started the scan. Fairly immediately her body language told me that something wasn't right.
I asked what she was seeing and she explained: "I can't see a hernia... but I do see some weird lymph nodes. " At this point the consultant was called in. He and I spoke about my medical history briefly then he took over the controls. He explained that I don't have a hernia, but rather, a swollen lymph node. It's nothing to worry about and it will go away in due course.
All in all, a very professional experience. The staff were lovely and are to be commended.
"A very professional experience"
