"Excellent care - thank you :)"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50)

(as the patient),

In March, I was admitted in early labour to the maternity unit of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. I was eventually transferred to the labour ward. After several hours in labour (during which I was supported by a wonderful midwife) I was informed that I would need a Caesarean section and after the procedure was explained to me I was transferred to theatre. Shortly afterwards our daughter was born safely. I would like to thank the labour ward midwife who looked after me, Dr. Pringle and (I presume) his registrar, the anaesthetist who put in my epidural and all the other staff involved in my care in the early hours- they were a credit to the hospital and the NHS as a whole.

Dear Pingu,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter and thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of your labour and her birth.

It is lovely to hear that the efforts made by the multi-disciplinary team to support you during labour resulted in a positive birthing experience and we have passed on your very kind comments to them.

With best wishes for the future.

Cathy Harkins
