"Past my Care by date"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

(as the patient),

My age is 65. I suffer a number of health problems. The main one is Ishemic heart disease, Severe Angina, Hypertension, High Blood preasure.

I had triple by pass in October 1998. My heart condition has been managed with different and increased medications by Dr Ward's Clinic, St George's Hospital. I am not able to have any further heart surgery because my arteries are too severely narrowed, Two of the three grafts I had are now more than 80% blocked. I also suffer very badly COPD from which I can barely breathe and am very breathless from this at all times. When I try to go up a few stairs I get so breathless which also brings on a severe angina attack, totally disabaling me for about 20 minutes a time. My blood pressure is nearly always at 195/115/82 if I try any form of movement. At rest it reverts to 120/70/80. I also suffer from Osteo-Arthritis, Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3. My spinal problems are Intervertabral discs 4,5,6,7 diagnosed completely worn away in spine. In August 2009 I had been Diagnosed as terminal.

At the beginning of March had attended a three monthly check up at Dr Ward's Clinic at St George's Hospital and saw one of his registrars that I had not met before. I was not very well at this time suffering, breathlessness. Even though the registrar made no examination of me he declared to me there is nothing wrong with my heart and then discharged me from the heart clinic. Because of this shock action by this registrar I am now very concerned that the very medications I take just to keep me alive will now be removed from me, thus ending my life. After all I have been through in the last 12 years I thought I would be allowed to end what time I have and be left in peace. I am so confused and very alarmed of this action taken by the hospital. This will now eventually end my life because of the refusal of care by the hospital.I also fear the hopspital will remove the medications that keep me alive because of the statement made by this registrar.

What can I do to stop this very wrong action upon me? Please someone help me before it is too late.

Update posted by Breathless (the patient)

It is now pointless to try to get any medical care after being told: "There is nothing wrong with your heart so therefore you are discharged from this hospital". This was the very words used by the last registrar I saw.

The hospital claimed the consultant viewed my case and confirmed neglect and abandoment to me but would not re-instate my outpatient appointments, which I had been keeping since my by-pass on 2nd October 1998 especially as my grafts are over 80% blocked plus other worsening heart problems that are either not found or I was not told of.

It is getting much harder to breathe now and I cannot hardly talk without getting breathless and then confused. I try not seeing GP as it seems a waste of time.

I did not want to complain, just someone to help me. I feel let down by St Georges's Hospital.
