"What a fantastic care centre!"

About: Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre

At my given appointment time of 06.30 am it was though a starting gun was fired! I was met in the reception area and escorted to my ward/bed and given gentle instructions to get into the not so trendy bed gown, amid lots of quips all round. Then into a range of pre-operation testing, blood pressure, blood sampling, blood sugar, shaving my leg, all done with great care and attention, not forgetting the humour (some of the nurses and staff could be on the stage). Then onto the injections needed prior to the operation, sedation, local anaesthetic and the lumbar-puncture, all done professionally. The operation was a breeze for me, I heard all the banging, screwing, sawing and that ratchet on the socket set but all was fine. I felt and witnessed the care, attention and utterly professional conduct of the entire "Team" who all made my experience at Barlborough Treatment Centre a pleasant one. PS: It was worth giving them my knee for the wonderful, food, care, the craic with the staff, and a totally wonderful memorable experience! Thank you "Team"

PS: Almost forgot to mention the Physio Team, who gently instructed me to do some specific exercises and handle a walking frame and crutches in readiness for my return home. All this in just three days. Fantastic!

Response from Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre

Dear Paul,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely feedback on the NHS Choices website.

We refer to this as our 'Trip Advisor' for Orthopaedic Care, so thank you for leaving a very comprehensive overview of your experience!

We have a fantastic team here at Barlborough and we always think a little humour goes a long way in relaxing a patient and making them feel at ease.

You are right about our Nurses, some of them would definitely go down well on the stage!

We hope your recovery is a quick one and is as pain and stress free as your surgery.

With very best wishes, Mandy J Miller - PA to Steve Booker, Hospital Director and Marco La Malfa, Medical Director
