What I liked

This Hospital had the very best surgeons in the country.

What could be improved

After surgery they keep you on a drip until you pass water - but you can't pass water until a ward Physio helps you start walking, and the ward physio is too busy to see you for days.

Despite asking for the drip to be removed, the nurses just keep loading you up with more drips.

So much for being able to refuse treatment.

Anything else?

Waiting times are dreadful and the waiting list policy is very harsh and cruel.

In my case, I injured my knee in Aug 2007 and was referred to my local district general;

in Feb 2008 I was then referred on to RNOH Stanmore;

I saw the consultant in May 2008;

offered surgery in Oct 2008, but broke my arm two weeks before, although the arm experts said I could have leg surgery in three months the RNOH kicked me off the waiting list;

In Jan 2009 I was readmitted to the waiting list and finally given surgery in June 2009.

I sat on three waiting lists and spent 23 months from Injury to Surgery.

The length of time I spent injured awaiting surgery cost me my contract at work and caused me financial hardship.

I have learned my lesson and now have private health insurance.
