"Breast cancer"

About: City Hospital / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

My treatment and care before, during and after for breast cancer has been excellent. I have just a couple of suggestions for City Hospital.

On the day of my operation, I, and another patient, had to walk from our ward, through the treatment centre to the breast cancer centre in our dressing gowns and slippers. I thought this is extremely embarrassing and humiliating walking past other people who are just visiting the hospital and are obviously in their everyday clothes. We were taken back to the ward in wheelchairs. Why couldn't we be taken down in them? And whoever designed the treatment centre should be ashamed at not realising they hadn't accounted for this. I think there should be a private corridor or something.

The other thing would be how about trying to fit more appointments into one day? Going one day for biopsies and then back another just for blood test is ridiculous. If the different apartments could get their heads together and cut down the travelling for patients would be good. Thank you.

Thank you for posting your comment about the excellent care and treatment that you have received during and after your illness. Thank you too for the suggestions of improvement, in particular how we can better protect your privacy and dignity when moving around the hospital for different tests or treatment. We are always looking to improve the care we offer to our patients and I would like to thank you for your comments and I will ask the team to address these. Thank you and I wish you well, Tony Waite, Director of Finance and Performance.

Thank you for your response and assurances Tony. I hope my original post didn't come across as too negative, because once again I'd like to send my thanks to all the caring, hard working staff at City. You are all amazing and I'm truly grateful for all you did for me.
