"i still wish i never took my dad ..."

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

i still wish i never took my dad to Dewsbury hospital. He waited for over 8 hours in a&e,on a stretcher ,it was only after i threatened to take him home, that they brought him a bed down. On the MAU unit, the staff were rude and lazy, lacked empathy,,the consultant never consulted us on any of my dads care, the A@E lost his medicines list and his xrays by the time he came on unit.He was in agony all night and day with the cathertor they had put in him ,and after constant pleading from the family and my dad.they had a serious look at him again and took the thing out. That night they transferred my dad to ward 10,where any semblance of care for the elderly is non existant. Rarely have I seen a more lazier bunch of people than those "nurses" on ward 10.My dad died in the morning, and i sincerely believe his care at DDH contributed to his death.

What could be improved

everything. The staff are incapable and it seems do not care about their elderly patients, maybe a family member should be requested to stay with the patient in hospital. So at least the patient can experience some nursing with the dignity and care they deserve.

Anything else?

Unless things improve at DDH avoid it.
