I received excellent treatment from everyone in screening services, in pre-op, in theatre - anaesthetist, nurses, surgeons - and finally in ward A800, from where I was discharged on the 5th day after my surgery. On the ward, I was impressed with the high standards of cleanliness and comfort, the facilities and, most of all, the dedication and professionalism of all the staff - housekeeping, catering, physiotherapy and nursing. There was a good choice of food, and it was well cooked and presented. Everyone I encountered was cheerful, kind, helpful and efficient, and the ward routine and organization were calm and effective. The care was considerate and not intrusive, but it was watchful and thorough. My surgeon came to the ward even during the weekend, and the staff were just as on the ball at night as during the day. The ward was kept as dark and as quiet as possible so we could sleep. Hand overs between shifts sounded to me to be thorough. I feel I was very lucky indeed to have had my screening, my surgery and my initial recovery at the BRI. I couldn't have asked for better, and I'm very grateful to you all!
