"Problems with privacy at Royal Preston Hospital"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as the patient),

My father is a patient on Ward 10 at the Royal Preston Hospital. Following a stay on the same ward last year he begged me not to let him go back there as it was so bad. Dad is 88 and when I visited him yesterday he had been very sick and I felt no one was bothering with him.

His locker was on the wrong side of him and therefore he was sat almost touching the man in the chair next to him. He was retching and the poor other man had to eat his meal with that going on. When I asked for the lockers to be moved I was told she would pass the message on.

I later heard the male staff asking a junior doctor : 'Well what's all this about privacy?'. If he doesn’t know what privacy is or see the need for it I think he shouldn't be doing the job.

He also had left my father for 3 hours after being sick without anyone seeing him including himself and without a blanket despite my sister asking for one for him at 3pm. When I asked I was told to get one out of the cupboard. By then it was 7.30pm. Not good enough, and the male member of staff should be ashamed of himself.
