"Dislocated shoulder"

About: Rotherham Hospital

Our son had dislocated his shoulder whilst gardening and was in absolute agony.

We couldn't move him to get him into the car as the pain was too intense and as a consequence of this phoned for an ambulance.

We were informed after a few calls that there were no ambulances available as the service was particularly busy in our area.

A clinician did phone us back and said we could give him some pain relief and, after some pursuasion, we managed to get him into the car and cancelled the ambulance. We visited the department on an extremely busy, very hot afternoon and were actually met at reception after giving in his details and taken straight through.

Within 5 minutes, the consultant had replaced his shoulder and relieved the pain.

He was sent for an x-ray and upon return to the department the results were available and he was able to return home. All of this within a 30 minute time span! He is waiting for an appointment to visit the orthopaedic clinic where everything will be checked again.

A huge thank you, to everyone concerned.

You went above and beyond to ensure our son's problem was sorted. The consultant and the rest of the team were amazing!
