"This is a review of Hounslow RFS"

I was referredfor a urgent eye opinion after an optometrist found an abnormality on fundosvopy.Rather than do the referral directly, I went via my GP who marked it urgent. Six weeks later I am sent a letter with an appointment two months after that at another local GP practice with no facilitiies for fundal photography, FFA or retinal scan. Ie it would have been a complete waste of time.So I went back to the optometrist, who faxed a referral direct to Imperial who responded with an appointment two days later.It seems to me that the purpose of RFS is purely to delay secondary care rrferral and thereby to save money. If my sight had been endangered by this incompetence, it would have cost a lot more than the referral. My GP is great but hampered by costcutting beaurocracy which potentially damages patients.
