"Excellent birthing experience"

About: Harrogate District Hospital

I gave birth to my little girl in July 2016. The whole experience of being under the care of Harrogate maternity unit since finding out I was pregnant to actually giving birth has been second to none. Once my waters had broken, I requested the water birthing suite and was relieved to find out that it was not in use given there is only one in the department. The atmosphere provided by the midwives and the delivery suite itself was calming and helped me to stay as relaxed as you can be during labour. The aftercare was gratefully received with 3 different midwives providing much needed assistance with breast feeding. I was allowed to go home the next day. The department has undergone a refurbishment and it really works. I'm so glad I could use the water birthing pool, which is perhaps my only observation-to have more than 1 would be fantastic as I believe my birthing experience would have been completely different had someone else been using it. I am aware however in these times of dire funding, that this could be difficult to achieve. Please pass on my thanks to all staff involved in the delivery of my daughter on 14th July 2016.
