"My care from Community Mental Health Team in North West Edinburgh"

About: Royal Edinburgh Hospital / General Psychiatry St John's Hospital / Adult Mental Health

(as a service user),

I have a diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder and spent ten years under the care of the North West Community Mental Health Team in Edinburgh, Scotland before moving away. I found the level of care exceptional and although the team was extremely busy, they always managed to find time for me. In particular my CPN Lynn was amazing - came with me on my journey and helped me understand and come to terms with my illness, providing consistent care and was compassionate and extremely knowledgable. And at all times someone who would really listen to me without judging and come up with ideas and advice to help. Also the psychologist Karen was extremely proficient at helping me see things in a different way, and gently explaining / helping me find ways of understanding and managing my illness/life in general and this benefitted me greatly.

Dear victory1003

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with the mental health teams from the Royal Edinburgh and St John's Hospitals.

I was really pleased to hear how the staff have cared for you with compassion and listened to you without judging and supporting you during these 10 years.

I have passed your kind words on the teams and l am sure they will delighted with your feedback especially Lynn and Karen.

Thank you again.

Kind regards

Jeannette
