"Porchester Ward July Community Meeting"

About: Forensic mental health / Low secure services

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

We had a Community Meeting in June and the following issues were raised:

1. We would like more information about the ward trips over the summer.

2. The cooker doesn’t work as well as it could can this be looked at?

3. We would like picture frames for our rooms to make them more homely

4. Sometimes the TV is on too loud in the evening which can be disturbing if you can hear it in your room and you are trying to rest.

We had some good discussions during ward community meetings the items which were raised have been considered and the following responses have been implemented.

1) Porchester have lots of trips on offer during the summer these include a trip the Zoo in august, one to the seaside (location to decided) and a golf day. If you have any ideas or suggestions for ward trips please see Rachel (Porchesters activity nurse). Aswell as full day trips we also will continue to have regular social evenings such as a snooker trip and cinema trips.

2) A new oven is being sourced, the new oven will be bigger and more efficent.

3) Picture boards have been sourced and are currently awaiting contractors to come and put them up in all bedrooms.

4) The noise levels on the ward at night have been discussed in both staff meetings and community meetings where it has been agreed that everyone will respect each other and keep nosie levels to a minimum.

If you would like any further information regarding ward trips and activities or have any further comments about the points raised in this post please see myself or Rachel (Porchesters activity nurse).

Hi

I would like to update you on the change which has occured as a result of this posting.

All patients on Porchester who wished to have picture boards up in their bedrooms have got these now.

The ward is still awaiting the new oven to be delivered and fitted in the kitchen.

Thanks

Sian
