"Poor quality care"

I came onto ward M2. I was in a lot of distress that afternoon/evening. One of the health carers who had seen me was very rude. They did not make me feel comfortable at all and did not introduce themselves nor speak a word to me. I was shocked at the poor quality of care provided to me, especially as I was in distress.

They had put an inflatable cuff on my upper arm for BP without speaking or explaining what they were doing. They did not even say Hello or tell me their name. The only thing they said was "Open" to check my temperature with an oral thermometer. This made me feel very upset and angry and very uncomfortable. For this reason I would not recommend the ward I was on because the health care I had was very saddening for me. Being pregnant too, it was very difficult for someone to be so stubborn and rude and uncaring when the job is to care for patients and make them feel comfortable. I also did not get offered any refreshments whilst on the ward and I was very hot and very dry!

Nobody explained to me what was going on. I was in the unknown and it made me even more stressed even thou I had tried asking. The doctor who had seen to me, was a lovely lady. She was pregnant herself and I couldn't fault her care towards me at all! She was kind, attentive when she in the room with me and made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. She had reassured me a lot to which I felt happy when I left the ward. The doctor who had seen to me was accompanied by a Nurse. She also was very nice and comforting.

I also visited the antenatal unit a few days after and the antenatal unit was very helpful and were all a lovely bright bunch of people. Especially the ladies on reception duty. I just did not like my time with a sonographer. I felt like they weren't taking me seriously because I'm a "young mum to be".   They did not explain anything to me that I wanted to know and did not let me look at my baby when I wanted to and kept telling me it was too small to see anything. Although I am 20 weeks! I found this ridiculous.
