I have had 3 miscarriages & a stillbirth before having my daughter in 2014. I had excellent care from my consultant & registrars during my daughters very stressful pregnancy. I'm now pregnant again & there's a big gap in care until 10/12 weeks. When you've had recurrent miscarriages like I have & then lost a baby later in pregnancy, having a first appointment at 10/12 weeks is too late. I've submitted my referral almost 2 weeks ago and still not heard anything. The referral includes all my history and yet it's not taken into account at all. I'm 6 weeks pregnant & I've already had complications but all you can do is go to UCC. There's no midwife to contact or guidance on what to do.
At the UCC the nurse took down my history but when I saw the doctor they had no idea of it. I was told to do a urine sample & it was never tested. My blood pressure wasn't checked. The doctor started telling me what will happen if I miscarried...if only they had read my history!! The consultant then said i wouldn't get a scan same day. I got home & rung the scanning dept myself and they fit me in! You just feel completely lost & neglected at a very vulnerable time. My consultant has said they would be ready & waiting to treat me again in this pregnancy but I can't access them and the aspirin I'm taking I've had to self prescribe because I'm yet to see anyone
