I met a very good friend at Workington Hospital but I was very sad when she asked for a clean glass one day and she was verbally abused by one member of staff. This member of staff was part of the cleaning team. At this timemy friend was shouted at and the situation was very intimidating.
The other members of staff on duty stated that she was within her rights to report this incident, but she said that she was too scared. On a separate occasion I also witnessed the same member of staff being very rude to staff members even calling one of them "thick". I think this member of staff should not be in the caring profession and I have not given my name as I may be admitted to the hospital in the future.
I do hope that this matter will be investigated so that others do not have to witness what I did.
