"Closing of merseyview walk in centre liverpool"

About: NHS England

(as the patient),

I am really unhappy to hear that the Mersey view walk in centre is closing at the end of July 2016.

This service has been extremely helpful to the community and all patients that have needed medical attention when there was no appointments to see their regular gp doctors.

I dread to think about the impact this is going to put upon the local hospital that is within walking distance of the walk in centre and how much strain it will put on gp services because nobody will still be able to get an appointment with their registered gp.

I have been lucky enough to use the doctor led and nurse led practitioner services at merseyview over the years it's been a godsend to myself and my family when we have needed to see a doctor. Such a sad time for staff and patients to lose this service, I hope that appropriate services are going to be offered out in gp practices to support the patients needs especially out of working hour appointments and weekends as most people struggle to take the time off work or cannot get through to their gps from 8am of a morning and miss the few appointments that are left that day.

As an allied health care professional I am aware how stretched our NHS services are and value everything we have to offer patients.

The future plans for the NHS has been to extend services within the community and reduce the burden from hospitals. New hospitals are reducing beds, new pathways for hospital discharge are being addressed yet losing walk in centres especially doctor led devices are being closed down. This is yet another money saving issue that is going to compromise the health and wellbeing of patients and again put strain on the gps and A+E.

I know this Has been a hard decision to make but this is taking a step backwards and I do speak on behalf of my family members and a lot of people but please rethink about closing merseyview walk in centre! ! ! !
