"Minor injuries"

About: Blyth Community Hospital

I took my son here for an injury and was told by the reception desk at 4:15 that the nurse would not see any more patients, when I challenged them about been open till 5:00 they said the nurse had a busy day and had a patient to see. The waiting area was empty which I pointed out. I asked if they could please ask the nurse if the nurse could have s quick look. After a phone call to the nurse they told me to take a seat. I waited 25minutes for the miserable nurse to come out and tell me they don't see patients after 4:15. Well I had been to work all day and came as soon as I could thinking they were open till 5. Can I please suggest you change your opening hours if you actually close at 4:15 as this is false information on your posters.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am very sorry that you and your son were unable to have been seen by a nurse- I hope your son has since been able to receive the care he needed?

It’s worrying to know that you were informed by our staff that your son would be unable to be seen, I would like to look into this matter further. If possible, please could you email me with the date of your visit so that I can speak to the staff on duty at that time? My email address is Annie.Laverty@nhct.nhs.uk. It’s also upsetting to read that you feel one of our nurses was miserable? This is certainly something I would like to look into with your help.

I appreciate that you must have been frustrated to have been turned away and can only apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Annie
