"gynaecologist"

About: Broomfield Hospital / Accident and emergency Broomfield Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I arrived at A&E staff were great I was in total agony. They didnt know what was wrong with me but in the end arrived at the conclusion this was something to do with my ovaries and or womb area as I had severe groin pain A&E were fantastic they gave me morphine but it didnt work I was waiting for the gynaecologist to come down and see me.
The gynaecologist was phoned by the doctor twice. I was put on a drip and sent up to see them. I felt that they were rude arrogant and totally dismissive of my symptoms I thought I was literally dying. They tapped on my tummy area and nothing else and then ripped the canulla out of my arm in a violent manner (my arm then bled all night). I felt that they treated me like vermin, how could they treat someone with such unbearable pain like that anyway? They sent me home in this agony and left me like that however they did put me on a list for a scan which they were asked to do that day but didn't, I felt like they couldnt be bothered!

The gynaecologist also asked me how many units of alcohol I drink a week I had no idea but I told them what I tend to drink in a week and they estimated the number of units from this. When I got home I googled this and the number of units was very small in comparison to their estimate, I feel like they just made it up on the spot!

I went for a private scan and found out I have ovarian cyst and fibroids inside the wall of my uterus plus the sonographer said my womb looked very mucky indicating endometriosis which has left me in so much pain for months. I feel like the gnaecologist I saw had a very uncaring attitude and rudeness, my friend was with me and was totally shocked at the treatment.

Update posted by Melly (the patient)

After writing my story of my attendance at A&E at Broomfield Hospital I contacted the responder and gave him my phone number. I had a lovely lady ring me and ask me what happened that day with the gynaecologist and I explained to her how rude they were and how they sent me home in agony without a scan. This lady I spoke to apologised for my treatment and rang me back with an immediate appointment with a consultant gynaecologist two days later I was in his office and he was extremely thorough and very nice he examined me unlike the other gynaecologist who was horrible to me. His name is Mr Spencer and he listened and asked me questions relating to my condition he is now referring me to another doctor as he feels this is not related to my cyst and my fibroids. I am still in pain but im hoping to finally get to the bottom of this as it is ruining my life and making it extremely difficult to function. Many thanks to Broomfield Hospital and of course the new gynaecologist I saw 10 out of 10. Thanks to your site also many thanks.

Kind regards
