"Amazing PICU team saved my baby boy"

My baby son was diagnosed with Transposition of Great Arteries (TGA) and VSD at my 20week scan - A congenital heart condition that causes death without corrective surgery. Daniel was taken to Glenfield within hours of his birth and had surgery at 3 days old. My son would not be here without the skill, care and expertise of the amazing team at Glenfield. Daniels surgery took 10 hours and he spent 25 days in PICU followed by a week on Ward 30. I placed my trust and faith in the team and the care we received was incredible. Daniel was the patient, but as parents we found such kindness and professionalism. Surgery for any parent is a difficult time ... The nurses and team at Glenfield emotionally supported us every hour of every day. I cannot express my gratitude enough. I will be forever grateful and in awe of the amazing team. Without them Daniel would not have survived. Without their kindness there were many days and nights that I would have struggled to get through. Glenfield is a wonderful hospital and I feel so lucky that Daniel was and continues to be under their care.
