"A&E, Arethusa Ward & Fracture Clinic"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

My husband went into A&E on Friday evening at 10pm following a slip of an Axe. He was seen in A&E within 10 minutes. The A&E ward was busy and we had a trainee nurse, who was very nervous but I am sure they did the best they could. He was on the Arethusa Ward an hour and half later. The staff on this ward are fabulous, very friendly and helpful. He had an operation on Saturday afternoon and was discharged on Sunday afternoon. I cannot fault the A&E department when they were busy and the ward staff on Arethusa. However, the follow up appointments in the Fracture Clinic are useless. When your discharge notes say you need to return in 1 week for a full weight bearing cast, you are expected to wait 17 days!! This is a huge problem for someone's motility! Sort this out and I would have given 5 stars.
