I took my son to wishaw General on the Saturday as he was in a lot of pain with his right hip he was x-rayed and sent away. He got worse on the Sunday phoned nhs 24 where they sent us back to a& e at wishaw General he was admitted to ward 20 on the Monday, they took bloods started on antibiotic on the Tuesday went to theatre to take fluid from the hip which they thought was osteomyelitis, back out of theatre, another cannula in still in agony at this point, totally off his feet in bed now. Only given pain relief when I asked, they never brought in pain specialist teams or anything, the wee soul had to suffer. Nurses came and went, never helped much, I done everything for him, they handed me meds to administer, my son was also constipated due to all the tables which they gave,I had to ask for tablets to be changed which worked. .
On the Wednesday Mri scan which was all clear except a little fluid on the abdomen. The bloods came back, he had infection in his blood, still no diagnosis so on Saturday they decided operate again to flush out hip.
I told them no cannula in his feet, which was ignored when he came out cannula so in his feet. By the Sunday cannula a were bypassing veins under the skin his foot was swollen he was screaming again in pain, nurse couldn't cope, I asked her to leave as she was upset, and send another nurse which she did they had to remove cannulas.
On the Monday, went to Royal for heart test which were all clear - great - results came back, they spoke about him going home, then changed there mind wanted him in for further 2 weeks on antibiotics through cannulas but couldn't get cannulas in as no veins left all had collapsed. Asked for second opinion from specialists as bloods had now dropped so thought he would be able to have oral antibiotics instead. Specialists agreed for him to go home on antibiotic for 3 weeks all in and return after that.
I was never once asked how I or my son was. I think that my son will be scarred for life with what I think has been appalling care. As a mother of a young child I'm horrified and appalled..
