"As I am a 'past patient' ..."

About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

As I am a 'past patient' of the eye clinic I am fully aware of the equipment at the hospital, therefore to be informed my intraocular pressures could not be checked was unbelievable. I had adverse reactions, (including diplopia) to a local anesthetic at the dentist and was taken to the A&E by an ambulance. Staff did not ask what anesthetic was administered, or check if I had recovered from the effects.

I was informed by an ophthalmic registrar via a student doctor that my pressures could not be in the 30's as I had laser procedure! Did he/she not consider that the laser was not successful, as in my case? In fact my eye pressures were 35 a couple of weeks ago!

I was distressed by the anesthetic reaction, still feeling the effects of it whilst I waited over 3 hrs. just to be sent home unchecked......ooops, my blood pressure was checked!

Shame on the L & D.

Anything else?

A&E staff to treat patients with respect and not indifference, to understand most patients are actually unwell and probably distressed. Disturbed/loud patients should be moved away from the waiting area.

Patients to be kept informed.
