"Extremely disappointed in A&E provision"

About: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

I have to state how shocked I was by your A&E department. I know fully too well about local NHS constraints and pressures. We attended Gloucester A&E after my relative injured her knee and was unable to weigh bear. We self presented on a Friday night and the waiting room wasn't too busy. After two hours I thought it was odd that multiple people attended and were routinely triaged yet we had been there 2 hours and saw nobody. After three hours we asked the receptionist to check up as the patient was very uncomfortable and needed further analgesia as she was out of time for the paracetamol given. By 3.5 hours she was sat crying in pain and still did not see anyone, we pleaded with the receptionist and after 4.15 hours we were finally called through for triage. I am appalled, and will certainly not be revisiting. I understand pressures, and people needing to be triaged based on need more than most people. But this is why we have fall backs such as triage for the waiting room to intervene. Very disappointed
