I was taken to Colchester Hospital as emergency after only moving to the area 3 weeks ago. The treatment I received both in A&E and my ward were excellent. The doctors, sister nurses & carers did a grand job, were respectful and nothing was too much trouble. Right from the ambulance drivers to the ward everyone was excellent. The docs in A&E were particularly excellent and I received absolute first class treatment.
I just have one small gripe, having been sent out really too early and being 80 yrs old I was never asked about who would look after me at home or what duty of care they offered. This is my only criticism. and unfortunately two days after I had to have an out of hours doc who wanted me to go back. The doctor phoned the hospital and sorted out the problems I had and I remained at home.
All in all I was really pleased with Colchester, having moved from an area where the hospital has a good record and having heard so many bad things, I believe some people expect too much.
Well I was completely satisfied, except for my critical comment above.
I thank one and all..
