I am a typical grumpy old man (even though I am only 60). I will moan about anything. Not today though - I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever following my visit today, in fact, I have nothing but praise. I injured my hand in a fall from a ladder six days ago and, as there was little improvement in my condition, I decided to visit my local NHS walk in centre. After a five minute wait, I was seen by a very kind and caring nurse who took a lot of time to examine me and then referred me to the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Every member of staff I encountered was professional, polite and courteous, introducing themselves by name, engaging in conversation, really upbeat in every way. Yes, I had to wait but I had a very minor injury so there were obviously more urgent cases. Having said that, from arriving at the walk in centre to leaving the hospital was a little under five hours and I can live with that (don't forget I had to get to the centre and back and then to the hospital and back all by public transport). The administration seemed to be spot on, seamless in fact. I was asked lots of questions about my injury. Glad to say, the only question I was not asked was where was my credit card/or my insurance to pay for the treatment I received today.
