I have given birth to two children here, both times having a retained placenta leading to blood loss. Both times I was dealt with efficiently and reassuringly being whisked to theatre the first time and waiting in the labour room until surgery was available the second time. Staff were amazing, kept me calm, talked to me throughout, were kind and caring and also had a sense of humour. Theatre nurse was just gorgeous. My midwife was brilliant, as was the member of staff who stayed with me after the midwife left and waited until I was out of surgery. Before I had my second child I felt reduced movement and was told to come into Stoke for monitoring straight away, was monitored for an hour and told all fine and sent on my way happy again - there was no hassle at all. After having my second child they arrived at my home to check her and noticed she had jaundice, she then referred us back to the midwife at the hospital who had us admitted to the ward for light therapy. All of this was done calmly but swiftly and with no panic. I was then on the ward for 3 days with my baby until she was well enough to go home. The nurses are truly angels and don't get paid anything like what they deserve but we really appreciate you. The blood tests you did on my baby were done respectfully and carefully and she sometimes didn't even wake and barely noticed (although one nurse was very 'old-school' and was too rough (laying her across their lap with no care like the other nurses) and made her scream her head off- had I not been 2 days post partum and full of hormones I would have said something at the time but I was too shocked). I am full of praise for you people - we know you do everything possible. Thankyou.
