"Outstanding Care and Commitment"

About: University Hospital Of Hartlepool

(as the patient),

What I liked

Outstanding Care and Commitment

What could be improved

Services that have been removed from Hartlepool being restored.

Anything else?

I have just been released from the Coronary Care Unit of University Hospital of Hartlepool for the fifth time in approximately eight years, with a reoccurring condition they have had to take car of for me.

I have also had a couple of small operations on my knee and nose there, along with the usual visits to A&E.

I can only judge by the service I have received from this hospital as I have never been in any other.

In my opinion the service and care has been Outstanding each time I have been a patient, and if patient care was an Olympic event I feel sure the staff would easily be in for medals.

I can recognise the faces of quite a number of the nurses as they relentlessly, caringly, carry out there duties, nothing is ever a bother to them, they are always reassuring and friendly, they seem to want to make you feel as though they have known you all of your life.

The staff that bring my food will always be very cheerful, they will take care of my meals and then happily go about the other multitude of tasks that keep the hospital clean.

The doctors and specialists are Outstanding, you will be asked dozens of questions about your condition, whilst they observe your every move, missing nothing, as they build their picture of your problem and how they can best treat it, YOU and your health are their main priority, and it is matterless to them how long their shift has been.

I would like to thank each and every member of staff at this hospital from the bottom of my heart.

I find it very difficult to believe that the Government, and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust could even consider, closing any part of this hospital, and moving its services out of Hartlepool, but then again I would suspect that the people who make these decisions, and are allowing this travesty to take place, don’t possess a single strand of the moral fibre, that the staff at the University Hospital of Hartlepool have.

Thank you very much.

Stan Snowball.

Dear Mr Snowball – thank you very much for your comments. Like you we are very proud of all of our staff who work hard to provide the very best care for all our patients. We appreciate you have concerns about services at the University Hospital of Hartlepool. Today the majority of health care takes place in or near people’s homes and in future even more care will be provided there because this is what people told the government they wanted. We wish to assure you that wherever services are provided in future; in your own home, in your GP practice or clinic, in OneLife Hartlepool - which is due to open in a few months time - or in hospital, all of these services will be provided by staff who are committed to providing safe, convenient and compassionate care. Thank you for taking the trouble to leave a comment on NHS Choices.
